home

I may have mentioned that I’ve been enjoying the Olympics … or maybe I just mentioned the swimming. Anyway, in the couple of hours after CJ goes to bed, I’ve had my tv tuned in to NBC. As I’m waiting for the swimming, working away on my computer, I’ve heard a song play along with a montage of the US womens’ gymnastics team. I’m not even kidding when I share that I get a tear in my eye every time. I have a very strong emotional connection with music. It might be because I can easily commit to memory the words of a song and then ultimately associate them with something … good or bad.

So, I searched high and low on the interwebs and found the song (there are, apparently, a few of us searching for an “oh, oh, oh song” related to the Olympics). I heard some strange music tonight!

The title is “Home” and the artist is Phillip Phllips.

I listened to it and nodded along but then I looked up the lyrics and figured out why it gets to me. I’ll just let his words tell the story.

Hold on to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you’re not alone
‘Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Don’t pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone
‘Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Don’t pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home
