a day at the beach

We had a beautiful day here Sunday. I was so thankful for what would most likely be the last glimpse of that warm touch of the summer sun that I made an excuse to head out to the big lake. I had also heard there would be wind … which means waves … which means photo opps. Woot! So, let me put this all together for you: Sunday, warmth, sun, lake, wind, waves, and last but certainly not least, family. That equals out to be about the best day ever (performed a la SpongeBob).

Photo-taking was in abundance.

this makes my sister and i so proud

What I hadn’t expected was the abundance of kite surfers. I think I found a new addition to the bucket list.

taking advantage of the wind

they literally float up out of the waves and over the water. the landing appeared to be less “float-like”, though, on occasion

My sister got some close-ups of these yahoos young men soaring through the air. It was really quite amazing.

along the shoreline

Oh, the childrens. I love them.

sporting the wind-blown look

But this one, he’s my fave.

my source of light

Although it was windy, the waves behaved enough so that we could get out on the north pier. It was strangely not that summer-y hot out there, but worth the adventure nonetheless.

not as angry as it looks

Signs clearly indicated not to remove sand from the beach, so as the good law-abiding citizen that I am, I made sure to empty my shoes before we left.

Until 2013, summer.
