one beautiful family

Today was, as I explained in a couple of messages, rough. So, in the spirit of pretending like everything is fine keeping things light, I now present the Leep family.

There are few people in this world that can rival the ‘happy’ that is Kammy. You cannot help but feel better when you’re around her. And to be around her family for an hour? So.Fun.

Curt, Kammy, Chase, Jayna and Grady … thanks for braving a chilly Sunday afternoon and sharing your joy with me (even if Smarties bribery was involved).

The very best part about this tour was that I’d never seen an inch of it before.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

girls night out

Several of my girlfriends try to get together at least once a month for some much-needed girl time. I guess we all need it for different reasons, but regardless, we do make an effort to meet up because, well, it’s fun.

This time, we went all crazy and decided a Monday night outing was in order. One of my BFFs (Melissa) had won a private shopping experience with a local boutique (Cake’s … check it out if you haven’t been; they were most welcoming and not at all annoyed that I didn’t come close to buying a single thing). wordless wednesday

Words are coming soon; I’ve felt at odds with my thoughts this week but I’m working through it. In the meantime, I wanted to share another perspective on the same beautiful sunset from Sunday evening. I realized far too late in the evening it would be spectacular so I just got in the car and drove until I found a clearing. So, this is somewhere between where I live and the big lake. Sometimes, taking a detour is totally worth it.

potential career option

Or … why I think racing derby cars may be what I was born to do.

Exhibit 1 (with play-by-play)

car rounds corner

car lifts off the track

car lifts even higher off the track

car starts its descent

car returns to track

car goes on its merry way

Exhibit 2 (with play-by-play)

7-11 car rounds corner and lifts off the track

7-11 car turns completely to its side

7-11 car flips from its side to its top and over in the opposite direction

7-11 car returns to the track

7-11 car goes on its merry way

I should also add that the 7-11 car (Connor’s favorite, by the way) won the entire event and a $200 bonus for performing a complete flip … and going along on its merry way.

I think my driving history and daring personality make this line of work a definite possibility.

never forget

Image

ground zero, april 2007

“To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget.” – Arundhati Roy
