I don’t think there have been too many mornings that I’ve gotten out and thought, ‘wow, this is ridiculously beautiful’ as the snow draped the landscape, but today was one of them. Continue reading
a short story

Connor (and I) had a snow day today. I could write another (potentially incredibly long) post about the fun of simultaneously trying to work and hang out with your almost seven-year-old but I’m too tired. And sore. Well, that might just be my legs from the sledding, but still. Continue reading

holding hands
I’ve spent a good amount of time thinking about the very simple act of holding hands this week. It is really quite beautiful. Maybe its beauty lies in its simplicity?
Anyway, I love to hold hands. I always have. When you think about how much you do with your hands on a daily basis, it seems … well … very utilitarian and almost, lonely. We eat. We drive. We work. But, that moment when you reach out and grab on to someone’s hand, you’re connected. Continue reading

It’s my birthday.
The first order of business? An admission. I turned 30 today. Oh geez, okay. I’m 33. However, I do appreciate the one friend who texted, “u make 40 look good” and the other who confirmed that I’m actually beginning my 34th year. Yeah, thanks for that.

So I said to the Lord, “You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?” The Lord replied, “The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when I carried you.” – Mary Stevenson
Thanks to my dear friend, Lisa, for sending me this very important reminder. Love you, Lis!

I may have mentioned before that I’ve come to love Pinterest. I don’t visit the site (and/or the app) everyday but when I’m looking for an idea or have a ‘how-to’ question to answer, it’s a frequent destination.
Last week, I was trying to pull together an idea based on an Etsy item I’d seen. Oh, I love Etsy too. Everyone should. Anyway, the concept included a wooden frame, burlap and a wreath. The frame was super easy. Hobby Lobby just happened to have a 50% off sale and ‘BAM’, I had a frame. Continue reading

When Connor came home yesterday, he let me know that his class was going to be working on a boat project today. The ask was to find materials at home to send in (and share) so the kids could build boats and test their ability to stay afloat. Continue reading
my heart
Image
I frequently tell my boy he is my heart and now I have the bling to prove it (thanks to a very good friend). It seems like such a simple charm, but really, that one little ‘C’ on that one little heart communicates absolutely everything this mom feels about her child.

quiet play

There is just something so sweet about seeing a boy at play. I sat for a couple minutes before realizing that I needed to capture him. In that very moment. He was just so peaceful, so quiet. Continue reading
