guatemala: saying goodbye (a photo retrospective)

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on who you talk to, it gets to about three o’clock everyday and my hand just aches from trying to keep up with what I feel should be a doable pace right now. Apparently, even that is a stretch. But, this is temporary and I have to keep reminding myself of that. Sorry. I’m whining. But anyway, this post has taken about 20 days to complete. I almost forgot what I was talking about. #stillwhining Continue reading

the moment of impact

You’re all also fans of Nicholas Sparks, right? The very first book I cried sobbed like a baby as I finished was  “Message in a Bottle.” They knew I was so touched they made it into a film. I didn’t love that one so much (don’t do it, Kevin Costner!) but as his books became more popular, more movies followed and of the many that require a tissue or two was The Vow. Oh, The Vow. Continue reading

guatemala: a required photo retrospective

Is Monday over yet? Or wait, does it just feel like a Monday? Yep, it does. And to that person that decided it made sense to back into my car without so much as a note of, “oops, sorry about that.” … well, you’re just lucky I have a sweet little boy to hug and photos of Guatemala to fill my mind with wonderful thoughts. Moving on … Continue reading

home

In a post I swear I shared yesterday, I wrote about my decision to follow the call to Guatemala with a group of thirty-nine other kids (kids is a relative term, after all). And now, we are home.

I’ve spent the past several days attempting to process and figure out how to communicate what happened in Guatemala. I’m also trying to process the 700 photos I took. That’s the fun part, though, because I get to re-live the daily events every time I look at Caleb’s photo-bombing face them. Continue reading

#fbf: nine years

So … #fbf. Is that a thing? You know what I’m referring to, right? No, not Facebook friend. Flashback Friday … you follow? Well, for your benefit I looked it up and sure enough, Urban Dictionary says it’s a thing so there you have it. Who says you don’t learn anything new on Friday?! Pfft. Continue reading

what recovery feels like

I have an idea for a new series and the title is going to be: ‘the dumb stuff Staci does.’

I swear to you I would have at least two entries a week because, well, that’s just how I roll friends. And let me tell you, last week was a doozy. I actually told a couple friends that the week could ‘suck it’. I know. This is a PG-rated blog and I just said something bad. But really, it was unpleasant. Continue reading

it’s a God thing

A few weeks ago, I was minding my own business at band practice (oh, who am I kidding? I don’t mind my own business) and in walks Doug. I can almost NEVER guess what Doug is going to say when he approaches me. Is it going to be nice? Snarky? Gross? I just.don’t.know. His first question was, ‘So, what does your vacation schedule look like?’  Continue reading
