wacky wednesday, er, thursday

Normally, I limit the words for a Wednesday post (thus, the ‘wordless’ …), but this video requires a bit of explanation. And, I realize I’ve been less than wordy here lately. Wait, you didn’t notice? Oh. Moving on.

Long story short, we found a new feature on my phone tonight. I haven’t played much with iOS7, but I did notice the native camera app had been updated. I was showing Connor when, suddenly, I saw ‘slo-mo’. Hmm, what’s that? Well, anyone that knows Connor is well aware that he can be quite the ham. He comes by it honestly. Back in the day when we had video cameras the size of a small child, my girlfriends (or cousins) would film television shows, newscasts, etc. If only I’d known then that people get paid thousands of dollars for a two-minute YouTube video. Bummer.

Well, when Connor saw we could make videos in slow-motion, he was all about it. I believe he has a future in physical comedy. And with that, I present to you, “Connor sings the ABC’s” (in slow-motion).

P.S. I did not encourage him to do any of that. And I tried to post last night but YouTube opted out of the slo-mo version initially, which isn’t nearly as funny. It’s all good now. The end.

You know how its always a little concerning when your child’s quiet in the back of the car? Especially when they have your phone? No? Just me?

Connor likes to play several games on my phone. He’s also figured out how to find videos on YouTube. By the way … have you seen How Animals Eat Their Food? Hilarious.

Yesterday, he got quiet. I figured he was playing one of his games or looking through my photo album which is also sometimes scary. P.S. never screen shot workouts you think would be worth trying, especially if the workout is meant to improve the look of your behind with the details placed oh-so-perfectly over the contour of a woman’s behind. The next thing you know your son will be zooming in on it and sharing it with everyone … at church.

Anyway, we pulled in the garage and he asked me to look at what he’d created. He happened to open my new camera app and figured out how to take a video. He asked me if I could guess what he was saying (because he did it as ‘quietly as possible’) but he couldn’t help himself and blurted it out. I’ll let you watch and see if you can tell why he makes my heart melt.

Sorry my kid’s face is super-sized.

day trips

(warning: long-winded, photo-heavy post ahead)

Connor came out of my room yesterday morning and his first comment was,  (with his as serious as he can possibly muster face) “Mom, I’m not going to that party with you today.” Oh, you may have noticed I said that he came out of my room … yeah, well, we had a sleepover Friday night. Don’t judge me. Continue reading

things that are temporary

Image

As I get, ahem, older, I guess I’m realizing there are certain things that really are fleeting. You may recall I just got my hairs cut not that long ago. Well, not that long ago is ten weeks now and actually, in really big news, I made an appointment the last time I was in and will be getting more hairs cut … tomorrow.

I think logically, I knew that my hair would start to grow again but taking that step to really make a change was so hard. I might have also shared that my hair is a security blanket of sorts so it’s tough to part with something so cozy; although this 90-degree weather is making me completely appreciate shorter hair. Yuk.

Anyway, this isn’t all about hair. I mean it is, but it isn’t. The point is, I’ve learned to let go of some of those fears and anxieties over things that are not going to matter a hill of beans ten years from now. Short hair now? It can be down to the ground by then. Kid want a mohawk? Eh, it’ll grow back. Besides, I’ve never seen him so thoroughly explain exactly how he wanted his hair to look and smile so widely afterward. So for that reason (and that one alone!), I’m glad Connor looks like Mr. T. (old A-Team reference thanks to his dad).
