I’ve mentioned that I feel really fortunate to be a part of my church’s band. We’re small, but we’ve gelled over time and have been able to share our love for music with others and, hopefully, haven’t left them too disappointed. I’ve also mentioned how it hasn’t been the same since we lost one of our favorite members, Paul, back in April. It’s honestly been very difficult to keep going without him because often, I will hear his voice (or his broken g-string). There are a few songs that only take a moment to get going before I can hear him in the background. And I’m honestly hoping it remains that way forever. Continue reading

musical monday
Sometime ago, one of my coworkers dubbed the first day of our week “musical Monday.” Since I love music (but not Monday so much), I wanted to share my newest jam. Oh yes, I said I have a jam. Connor enjoys it as well, actually. He said it’s his second favorite song next to Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling.” Continue reading
ctrl+z
Connor and I spent Wednesday together unexpectedly last week. He’s been having some tummy troubles which is even less fun because every time he says he’s in pain, we have to immediately question what he’s been eating in the event any of it may have been gluten-ified. In any event, he wasn’t feeling up to school so after some doctor visits, we were home and he decided he wanted to practice his keyboarding skills on my laptop.

I was honored to be asked to take some photos of sweet little Emry now that she’s reached another one of her many-to-come milestones. I love, love, love working with this family because not only are they fun to photograph; they are fun to be around. Honestly, sometimes I have to watch myself because we just get chatty and then whoopsie, I’ve forgotten what I’m supposed to be focused on. Literally. Continue reading
halloween: a retrospective
Yesterday was Thursday, October 31. Halloween. I often see friends looking back in the archives on Thursdays and posting old photos in honor of Throwback Thursday, or #tbt. Coincidentally, I’d just gone back in the archives a week or so prior to find a photo of Connor dressed as Buzz Lightyear. He was two. Continue reading
second grade: a progress report
Gosh, it’s been busy around here. I feel like I posted six days ago that Connor started school when, in reality, it’s been just shy of two months. P.S. October is going to be over this week. Is this real life?
Connor is seriously rocking second grade. A bit more challenging than first, he’s learning ten new spelling words each week and five more difficult vocabulary words. He takes his spelling tests very.seriously. and so far, he’s aced all of them. In fact, he’s never missed a word on a spelling test. Do I smell a future Jewett School spelling bee champion? He could have his photo in ‘the book’ many pages after his mother who was rockin’ the pegged pants and crimped hair back in the day. Thanks for that style suggestion, Nikki. Ahem. Continue reading
a tea party
I don’t think I realized until just a couple weeks ago how “un”girly I am. A friend approached me about taking some photos for her family and I was all, “Sure!” And then she was all, “I’d like to do a tea party theme. I have this table and …” I think I might have passed out a little bit because 1.) I’ve never done a themed shoot and 2.) I’ve never been to a tea party. Continue reading

a grandma’s laugh
We were at Gull Meadow Farms this afternoon trying to stay warm for what’s become a bit of a tradition for families to gather and celebrate the fall season. Some of the kiddos don their Halloween costumes. Well, heck, some of the adults do as well. The fun part, though, is getting out into Pumpkin Lane and watching them (yes, kids and adults again) enjoy the activities. Continue reading
